I Still Like Art

Once I was made fun of for listening to the Talking Heads, and I didn't care. I just turned it up, and without having to say anything I told that person to shut up.

I remember some years before that, sitting on the bench seat of my Dad's 80-something Silver Chevy Truck, and looking through a cassette tape insert, the Talking Heads were one of the first bands that I personally realized as being an active group of creators, creating something through experiments. It was much later that I realized that only some people want to enjoy great creations, and even fewer will love any one specific creation, and/or get marketed correctly. But none of that matters from the standpoint of a creator. Hooray for art. Hooray for artists!

337 project

I like art, I appreciate it daily, sometimes I even make art of my own. Mostly it is fun to look at and study and decide if we like it or not. I don't like to criticize art...too much. If I start thinking or believing something should be a certain way, then how would that be another person's art?

Project 337 was cool, fun to see, good to experience. There was a great amount of work that went into the creation of that. One hundred and fifty artists and forty(plus) rooms. Check out the pictures I took. Ton of people there, and a bit of a wait to get in, but worth it all.

I think it is interesting how artistic styles seem to resonate geographically. I definitely notice a style mimicked in many of the art pieces. Also, I am assuming that many of the artists are Utahanese. I noticed in a few places with some Utah iconography stuff being used as subjects, like beehives, and a couple of "THE" (Mormon) prophets were portrayed in there.

It is unique that this stuff was put together knowing that it would soon be demolished. Everything here is very temporary. I noticed on the advertisement for the new hip living space that would be put up in this buildings place that it was "within walking distance of everything" and that each unit comes equipped with a "private two car garage" ... I thought if I can walk anywhere, why do I need 2 cars?

There, I criticized the advertising of the evil corporation that was tearing this place down, and not the actual art.
