Quick vid showing suspension travel of my 1/12 scale M1A2 abrams project, currently using Heng Long (non-S&S) electronics and 2x 1700mah’s. Today I was supposed to be doing my conversion to HL Tiger tracks (as the stock ones suck), but the postie didnt turn up – tomorrow it is then! View my project log here: www.hobbyhavoc.com

1/12 M1A2 Abrams project – 360 degree rotation

A quick video taken halfway through my last major revamp of the Abrams, no action videos yet but cosmetically it’s complete (still gotta sort gearboxes). I made this video to show the turret rotation rate, which is about 11.5 sec per revolution. Turret has been lowered slightly because it sat too high in stock form. As usual you can see my complete worklog for this tank here: www.hobbyhavoc.com

1/12 M1A2 Abrams (w/Heng Long electronics) – 12v test run

Video of my 1/12 scale M1A2 abrams project, initial testing of the 12v relay-system. The non-S&S Heng Long circuit board triggers the relays, relays switch 12v to each motor – so the board runs on it’s normal 7.2v while the motors run on 12v sealed lead-acid battery – giving longer running times. Currently using HL transmitter & 7.2v instead of 9.6v, suprisingly no loss of speed and MUCH easier to control. 12volts will add more speed, better utilising the 2-speed (7.2v-12v). 1/12 M1A2 Abrams after Heng Long electronics conversion

Video of my 1/12 scale M1A2 abrams project, shortly after converting to Heng Long (non-S&S) electronics. Now using HL transmitter and 7.2v instead of 9.6v, suprisingly no loss of speed and MUCH easier to control. Also 2-speed instead of single. Next mods are getting rid of the crappy rubber tracks (tight, horrible binding things which slow the tank considerably) and using HL Tiger tracks and sprocket. I also have a 12v project on-the-ago using automotive relays to control the power to the engines (so as not to harm the board) – Stay tuned! View my project log here: www.hobbyhavoc.com

link-by-link tracks and drive sprocket, instead of the poorly designed rubber tracks. Sprocket currently painted Dark Yellow instead of Light Sand, as I’m out of paint. Currently using Heng Long (non-S&S) electronics and 2 x 1700mah’s. Tons of mods done, and scratchbuilt extras (CIP panels, APU in bustle rack) from styrene.
